Moon Festival

Yesterday, I didn't have anything to do at school. Because a school time every Wednesday only until 12 o'clock. After having lunch time, students will go back home early. But, students from grade 6 ask me to join their activity (again) haha. So interesting! :D

After hard day for a week ago. We will have a holidaaaaayyyy!(finally). Taiwannese called this moon festival. What is moon festival? According to Wikipedia, Moon Festival/Mid-Autumn Festival celebrates three fundamental concepts which are closely tied to one another:
  • Gathering, such as family and friends coming together, or harvesting crops
  • Thanksgiving, to give thanks for the harvest, or for harmonious unions
  • Praying (asking for conceptual or material satisfaction), such as for babies, a spouse, beauty, longevity, or for a good future
Traditions and myths surrounding the festival are formed around these three concepts, although traditions have changed over time due to changes in technology, science, economy, culture, and religion.

And why the festival was named Moon or Mooncake Festival? Because of the celebration's association with the moon on this night, as well as the traditions of moon worship and moon gazing, and people here always make and eat mooncakes in this occasion.

Like what Kimo has already told to me, in the night before moon festival, there will be more fireworks than two days ago (I saw it on our way to go home). That's true! Even I was really tired because children took me again to play with them from 2 pm to 6 pm, I feel curious to see that fireworks. That's why I can't sleep haha.

Today, together with Kimo, Jane, and their daughter we go to Anping. Old place, old building. I always love seeing something like that. We go to Anping Old Fort and Tree House, trying Salt Ice Cream, playing games, and we also attending to an elementary school near Anping Old Ford event, they celebrate 100th year birthday of their school. In there, I am trying green tea with Japan culture made by children from that elementary school  and some Chinese Music Concert by children and maybe teachers from there. Moon Festival's so amazing! But unlucky, at home we are not do some activities like making BBQ, maybe my hostfamily's so busy. I read some articles that many activities Chinese people do during Moon Festival.
